“What’s with all the poppies?”

Why we chose poppies as the symbol for Wallace Marcom.

In the spring of 2020, during some of the early days of the pandemic, the world paused while uncertainty loomed. Amidst this, something small, but remarkable, caught my attention: poppies. On my daily walks, these bright, resilient flowers were everywhere, bringing a splash of color and hope with them.

On rainy days, I would notice patches of poppies battered by the storm, their delicate petals seemingly at the mercy of the elements. Yet, within days, they would rise again, vibrant as ever. The resilience of these flowers struck me deeply—they could take root in the most unlikely places, even in the cracks of a sidewalk, and flourish in harsh conditions. Every season, they return and spread regardless of the circumstances.

Poppies in bloom (spring 2024) - Folsom, CA

When I launched Brian Wallace Art in the summer of 2020, I chose the poppy as my logo. As Jessica and I began developing the branding for Wallace Marcom, the spirit of the poppy reappeared, inspiring us once again. This enduring resilience and ability to bloom against the odds resonated deeply with us as we nurtured our long-held dream of starting Wallace Marcom.

Our journey, much like the poppies, has not been without obstacles. But, similarly, we’ve discovered that this is where we bloom. The poppy has become more than just a flower to us—it has become a symbol of the resilience and strength we embody at Wallace Marcom. It represents our belief that, no matter the challenges, creativity and determination can find a way to thrive.

As we move forward, we carry the spirit of the poppy with us, determined to grow, adapt, and continue to bring brightness and innovation to our work, no matter what comes our way. We invite you to join us on this journey.
